Woodland Park Zoo's winter light festival swaps strings of bulbs for large illuminated lanterns shaped like animals and habitats, set along the zoo's paths after dark. It runs from mid-November well past the holidays, into mid-January, which makes it one of the few big light shows still glowing after New Year's. Gates open at 4 p.m. with last entry at 8:30, and select Night Owls evenings are 21-and-over with ID checks at the door. Tickets are sold online, separate from daytime zoo admission, and members get 20 percent off when logged in.
