Zoe Dusanne and Shirō Miyazaki at Cascadia Art Museum
23 September 2026Two shows at Edmonds' museum of Northwest art from 1870 to 1970 recover overlooked chapters of Seattle's art history. One celebrates Zoe Dusanne, who opened the city's first professional modern-art gallery in her home in 1950, championed Japanese American painters like Paul Horiuchi and George Tsutakawa, and gave Yayoi Kusama her first American show. The other is the first solo exhibition of Shirō Miyazaki, a Garfield High graduate who made striking block prints in the 1930s; more than 40 works lent by his family haven't been seen publicly in over 80 years. From Dec. 2, a show of vintage Northwest Christmas cards joins them.
