PNW Acquainted is a local guide to the people, places and causes that make Washington and Oregon feel like home.

We introduce you to the small business owners, makers and community builders behind the neighborhood spots you love. We share guides and events worth leaving the house for, and we point you toward real ways to show up for the place you live.

Who’s behind it

PNW Acquainted is founded and edited by Leeah Murray, a Seattle-based creative who believes the best parts of life happen in small moments: a good cup of coffee, a conversation with someone new, or finding a place that feels like it was meant for you. She started PNW Acquainted to help people feel more connected to where they live and the people around them.

Leeah also runs Meraki & Co., a digital studio that works with small businesses. Features on PNW Acquainted are free, and nobody pays to be included in our guides.

What you’ll find here

  • People: conversations with the entrepreneurs and makers shaping their neighborhoods.
  • Guides: where to eat, drink, shop and spend a Saturday, checked and updated.
  • Events: markets, music, holiday lights and art walks across Seattle and Portland, verified every month.
  • Get Involved: volunteer shifts, drives and local groups, each with a clear way to help.

How we work

Every place, event and organization we recommend is checked against official sources before it goes up, and our guides carry the date they were last updated. Read more about how we choose what we cover.
