Diwali: Lights of India at Seattle Center

Seattle Center's free cultural festival series marks the Indian festival of lights with an afternoon in the Armory. The program mixes classical and folk dance, including Bharatanatyam from Nrityalaya School of Dance and Kuchipudi from Kalamandapam, with music, martial arts, a cooking demonstration, henna and art workshops. Look for the kolam, the traditional Tamil Nadu floor art drawn in rice powder, and a gallery of work by Vikranth Samavedi. Northwest Share, which produces the festival, also hands out free vegetarian food, so come hungry.
