Usher at a theater in a century-old church

Volunteer ushers welcome audiences at a professional theater in a 1904 church in Northeast Portland, signing up one production at a time.

Since 2008, Portland Playhouse has staged professional productions in a 1904 church in Northeast Portland’s King neighborhood, including its holiday A Christmas Carol. Its volunteer needs center on front-of-house ushering: welcoming audiences and keeping the evening running smoothly.

Ushers sign up production by production through an online sheet linked from the volunteer page, and questions go to the theater’s volunteer coordinator. If you’d rather sit in the audience, watch for its $25 CARE and pay-what-you-wish performances.
