Every Saturday, year-round, farmers take over University Way NE between 50th and 52nd, two blocks from the U District light rail station. Winter is the season for squash, roots, apples and hardy greens, and the market's chef demo series keeps going into December: the Husky Culinary Club on Nov. 7, Anna of Yoka Miso on Dec. 5 and Caroline Wright on Dec. 19. SNAP shoppers get an unlimited dollar-for-dollar match at the manager's booth. Parking in the nearby U Heights lots is a suggested $3 donation, but the train is easier.
