What services or products does your business Bridgetown Marketing offer?
Website Design and Development
How did you get started on your Entrepreneur Journey in Portland, Oregon?
I jumped in feet first into an industry I knew nothing about! With a degree in Musical Theatre, website design has become a creative outlet that I never thought I would enjoy. But I do!
Was this business the first business you’ve started? If not, what was your first business?
I helped to launch a Digital Marketing company with a friend of mine. From their I branched out to start and run my own Website Development company in Tigard, Oregon.
What has been your biggest takeaway thus far on your entrepreneur journey?
You will never know everything. Know what you know and offer that to the people who need it.
How do you motivate yourself to keep going and growing, when you feel like giving up?
I remember that the freedom I have by owning my own business and setting my own schedule means that I have the autonomy to truly make everyday of my life exactly what I want it to be.
What has been your biggest lesson on your entrepreneur journey?
Do not try to be everything for everyone. Niche down to find your people and be an amazing resource for them specifically.
If you could share one truth with your fellow business owners and entrepreneurs, what would it be?
As a solo business owner, you have more hats to wear than room on your head. Be sure to take time during each day to breathe, remember why you are making the decision to be your own boss and recognize the little wins along the way.
What exciting things are coming up in your business?
I am launching an arm of my business specifically offering SEO optimized websites for Bookkeeping service providers.
What sets your business apart from others like yours?
From the start of the project to the end of the project you will be working with me. You are not glad-handed by an eager sales person and then dropped in the lap of a robot website coder. My warmth and genuine interest in your business starts with the first phone call and ends with the checkins you inevitably get from me down the road.
What do you value the most about your local community?
I love that the community I am in is quick to refer me to people that they care about. A referral to a close friend or family member is the highest compliment. It means you trust me and value the product and experience my company offers.
Do you or would you like to support other entrepreneurs? If so, how?
Absolutely! I love working with first time business owners on setting them up with a beautiful online face for their business. So much easier and faster than trying to build a website on SquareSpace or Wix, etc. I have really affordable website options for entrepreneurs who have enough to manage without having to learn a whole website platform.
What’s the most significant way a local business can impact their community and why is it important?
Personally, I think that being connected in a networking fashion whether in person, or in a facebook forum is a wonderful way to direct folks looking for a solution to their problem to your trusted network of service providers.
What do you love most about your community?
We live in a community that isn’t afraid to reach out and stop by to help people who need it. From providing school supplies to local students to supporting our local law enforcement.
When you aren’t working, what do you enjoy doing?
Spending time in my garden or in nature (backpacking, hiking, camping) and baking for friends!
Where would you escape to for a day trip on your day off?
One of the many gorgeous lakes in Oregon (to paddleboard!)
If you had family or friends visiting, where would be the top 3 places you’d take them for food?
I would take them to Salt & Straw for some wild ice cream tasting, to a local Ethiopian restaurant that we love in SE Portland and on a wine tasting tour through McMinnville.
When friends or family visit, what is on the itinerary for sight seeing or activities?
Heading up to mount hood for some time in the woods, or out to one of our many beautiful beach towns for some fun in the sun!
