These regions offer the perfect combination of warm\, dry summers and cool\, wet winters\, which are ideal for growing lavender. \nOne of the most popular varieties of lavender grown in Oregon is English lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)\, which is known for its delicate\, sweet fragrance and beautiful purple flowers. Other common varieties include French lavender (Lavandula stoechas) and Spanish lavender (Lavandula spica)\, which are also prized for their fragrance and beauty. \nLavender is often grown in large fields\, with rows of plants spaced a few feet apart. The plants are typically pruned in the fall to encourage new growth\, and the flowers are harvested in the summer when they are at their peak. The flowers are then dried and used to produce essential oils\, which are extracted through a process called steam distillation. \nIn addition to being used in aromatherapy and perfumery\, lavender has a number of other uses. DESCRIPTION:Washington Square wishes you and your family good fortune and happiness during the Year of the Rabbit. \nJanuary 28\, from 11am – 3pm\, in Center Court\nIn celebration of the Lunar New Year\, shoppers are invited to visit the Summit Court to snap a selfie and make a wish on red ribbon\, as we honor the tradition of the Wishing Tree. Enjoy traditional crafts\, stories\, dances\, and more for the whole family\, as we celebrate the Lunar New Year. \nTraditionally\, New Year’s eve and New Year’s day are reserved for family celebrations\, including religious ceremonies to honor ancestors. Communities celebrate with cultural dances\, fireworks\, and plenty of traditional foods such as niang gao (sticky rice cake) and fish\, to symbolize a surplus in luck and wealth. So we are celebrating the new year together on Saturday\, January 28.
